EMS POD
FAQ

Questions.

What is EMS training?

EMS stands for electro-muscle stimulation. A fitted suit places electrodes over your major muscle groups and sends small, controlled impulses that make those muscles contract — the same signal your nervous system uses, only stronger and more consistent. More muscle fibers are recruited at once, including deep ones that are hard to fire with conventional exercise, which is why a complete strength session fits into 20 minutes.

What can EMS training do for me?

Most people come to EMS Pod to build strength and lean muscle, improve tone, and get fit in a way that actually fits their week. It works for sport, for aesthetics, or simply for staying strong as life gets busier — the results come from training consistently, and EMS makes consistency far easier to maintain.

What does EMS feel like?

Most clients describe EMS as a pulsing or tapping sensation in the muscles. The intensity is adjusted gradually and always based on your comfort level.

Is EMS safe?

Yes. EMS technology is FDA-cleared and has been used in professional sport and clinical rehabilitation for decades. A full health screening is completed before every first session.

Why Wiemspro?

EMS Pod trains exclusively on Wiemspro equipment — the wireless EMS suits used in professional sport and clinical settings, FDA-cleared, with no cables or harness getting in the way. Your trainer calibrates the impulse for each muscle group as you work, which is also why we recommend training in a suit of your own.

Is it hard on my joints?

No. The intensity comes from electrical stimulation and controlled movement rather than heavy external loads, so there is far less stress on joints and connective tissue than a typical weighted session. That low-impact nature is part of why most clients can train twice a week and still recover well.

How does one session compare to a gym workout?

A single 20-minute EMS session is built to do the work of a much longer visit — roughly two to three hours of conventional training for most people. The real advantage is that it removes the excuse: less time spent travelling, changing and waiting between sets, more sessions actually completed.

How long is each session?

Each EMS training session is approximately 20-25 minutes with a 5-10 minute setup. Your first appointment may take up to 45 minutes.

Where do sessions take place?

At your location — your home, apartment gym, private office, or another approved space anywhere in San Francisco or Silicon Valley. We come to you, fully equipped.

How often should I train?

Twice a week. That's the minimum for building strength, and it's the cadence every client is programmed toward. One session a week can hold what you've already built — but only if you're genuinely active outside of it, whether that's Pilates, yoga, boxing, or your own strength training. If EMS is the only thing on your calendar, once a week won't build much. Two a week will.

Who is EMS best for?

People whose calendars don't leave room for the gym. Founders and tech entrepreneurs, executives, attorneys, and others working in tech — plus busy parents and wellness-minded clients who want a time-efficient, low-impact, guided strength training experience.

Who is EMS not recommended for?

EMS is not recommended for those who are pregnant, have an implanted electrical device such as a pacemaker, epilepsy, or active cancer.

What should I wear?

It depends on the suit you train in. With the Revolution Pro or the Revel X — Wiemspro's newest suit, just released — you'll wear your own undergarments beneath the suit. With the Slim Plus there's nothing to bring: we provide the base layer the suit is fitted over. Either way, come in something comfortable and easy to change out of.

Do I need my own suit?

Not to start — you're welcome to train in our Revolution Pro or Revel X suits. But if you're committed to training twice a week, which is where results actually come from, a personal Wiemspro Slim Plus suit is highly recommended. It's $400, it's fitted to you, and it means the suit is always yours and always ready when we arrive.

What if I already have an EMS suit from another manufacturer?

Not a problem. Tell us which suit you have when you apply and we'll go through it together before your first session — how it fits, how it's used, and what training with it looks like. The one requirement is that it's FDA-cleared, which is a safety standard we don't train without. If it meets that and works for how we train, we'll train you on it.

Do you train online?

Yes. Online training depends on which suit you have — Katalyst, Xbody, or Visionbody. The one requirement is that your suit is FDA-cleared; that's a safety standard we don't train without. Tell us which one you own and we'll set it up, and if you're not sure what you have, send a photo and we'll identify it.
